1967 grille removal
I am about to start a refub on my 1967 grille, new paint and surrounds. I have never had a C10 so disassembly on this truck has had a few “moments” and I would like to minimize any mistakes for this project. What I need is some guidance on how to pull the whole grille from the truck. Research for this has produced little information for a 67-68. What I have found is it bolts to the fenders, hood latch and several bolts on the radiator deflector. Also the headlight bezels and maybe the turn signals that need to come out. Is there anything else I need to remove?

That's about it.
2 bolts per corner, the hood latch to core support, light bezels and a bolt or two to the lower "cover"/"deflector" and unhook the turn signal electrical cables. Hth, -klb

The end bolts are a PIA, especially if they're rusty. There's 2 per end, top and bottom.
67/68 trucks also have a "splash pan" that's bolted to the bottom of the grille, so really, the bumper needs to come off too. Turn signals can be left in, just need to be unplugged.

Thanks guys. No rust to deal with, it’s a Georgia truck and it had been sort of restored a couple years ago. I already pulled the bumper to put on a roll pan. No surprises, it is all off, other than accessibility and my arthritic hands it wasn’t as tough as I thought it would be.

I was surprised to see the stock surrounds were held on by a simple flat piece of steel with a threaded stud welded to it rather than that crazy spring clip thing that aftermarket ones came with. Unfortunately those will not fit in the new surrounds.

Awesome. And i hate those spring clips, if you ever have to take it back off half of them break.

Those springs were invented by the devil! I finally got both surrounds on. Getting those spring clips to line up with all 14 holes is a nightmare. I got the grille positioned on the truck fastened to the hood latch and one bolt in each side top but ran out of energy. Hopefully I will finish tomorrow.

youll have much easier access to the far inside bolt that hold the grill to the fender by removing the headights and using the ratchet thru there

That is true, but I was able to use a long extension and did not have to remove the headlights. I really had no problem getting those bolts back in. My biggest headache was getting the radiator deflector and the roll pan to line up so the bolts would go into the grille. No bumper on my truck just a roll pan.
