Donor body questions
Started our k10 rebuild a few days ago. It’ll be a long project but should be fun. Bought what is basically a rollin frame with a cab that is trashed and no other body panels except the hood....NONE!
I’m thinking a donor truck will be the best route to acquire all the needed items. Will any 67-72 Chevy/GMC truck work? I know the bed length will be a player but other than that? Inner and outer fenders, core support, cab are they all the same? Thx! |

Re: Donor body questions
Depends...
GMC Front fenders are 1967 only, Then 1968-1972. Only a 1968 Chevy fender will work on a 68-72 GMC. Chevy fenders changed 1967-1968 (however 1967 had no marker/reflectors), 1969-1970, 1971-1972. Not sure how the hoods fit, but i'm guessing the slant nose hoods of 1967-1968 will require different hood latch and maybe the correct core support. Gary

Re: Donor body questions
there are a lot of people on here with more information than I have. However, I switched a 1970 to a 1968. It required a complete front end. Core support, fenders, grille, front diverter pan, hood, even the bumpers are different (due to the parking lights).
I don't know how interchangeable the other years are. I know grilles are different between the years (3 basic different grilles); and there may be other differences as well. You could check here using the search function, I know this has been covered multiple times. But, if you have all the parts you can build it to look any way you want. Good Luck!! |

Re: Donor body questions
Thx for the info! I didn’t realize there was so much variation between each year! It would be nice to stay with the same year all I really want is a functional truck. So things like marker lights etc are not a huge priority.
What about cabs? Are they more interchangeable? |

Re: Donor body questions
cabs are interchangeable. 67 had either small or large back window, rest are large.
