PS Pump Pulley Removal Tool 1972

Does anyone know of a PS Pump Pulley removal tool that will work on a 1972? All the ones I see listed talk about newer models, but not back to 72.

Harbor freight has one for less than $20, I have used it many times over the years. I believe autozone loans it as well.

Re: PS Pump Pulley Removal Tool 1972

1974 & earlier GM power steering pumps have a 5/8" keyed & threaded shaft with a nut holding the pulley in place. Once that nut is removed, the pulley will usually just slide straight off the shaft. Although if there is a bit of rust holding the pulley in place, a puller tool (like the ones typically used with the 1975 & newer pressed-on pulleys) may be needed. And as long as the pulley hub has the necessary groove for the puller tool to fit into, the tool meant for the newer pressed-on pulleys should still work with the older pumps.

Good info & advice here.
