Re: 6L80 4WD to 2WD

So bumping this for info.
Im following but also a little confused.

Basically looking a dropouts for my 57 panel (2WD) with 4WD trans (4l60/4l65e/4l80e/6l80e) as there are many more options and easier to find as they were more common.

I read on some threads and some guys talk about switching out tail housing from a 4WD with a 2WD. But from what I can tell ..... seems like ALL of these transmissions requires that the output shaft be removed (shorter 4wd) to a longer 2WD. Basically a full tear down. So this is false ?

Are there any ways to bypass a full rebuild on any trans -- this seems like one way ... but requires a 2 piece drive shaft.
Since I dont have a drive shaft and likely will have to get one made ...... could this be an option ?

I saw someone mention a drive shaft with the slip "built in". IS this another option ?

thx
