327, what to do with it

ok heres the deal i have a 327 (didnot run the #'s yet) but i pulled it cause the cam went flat and it had a lower end tick or knock. heres the question, is it worth anything? what would you guys do with it? id like to get rid of it soon but im not sure witch way to go. thanks -kyle

kyle-run the #s on that engine and post them if you get a chance. i personally prefer the "all original" or "#s matching approach" to my rebuilds or upgrades. you may get more interest or trade value from someone who needs a correct engine for their project. does the engine have the original air cleaner assembly? if so i may be interested if i know model and make. also is your 327 transistor ignition?

327's are darn good motors. I have a late (large journal) 327 in my truck and its been running strong sonce I rebuilt it 13 or so years ago.

It's worth money.

Some of my quickest motors were built 327's don't underestimate it..

Look at the horse the factory pulled out of the Vett ones. They usually get better mileage then 350's too.

Yeah I like them to I have had a coupla that were bone stock,now I have 1 that is 30 over, fuelie heads, soon to have a nice cam.Ihave 3 of these in the shop I was getting 18 mpg out of the last 1 I ran and good performance allso.It depends on what u want someone is allways looking for 1

I had a large journal 327 in my 83 el camino. I liked it but went with a 350 this time to see what the difference would be. The 327 shortblock was wrecked from the torque convertor or something screwing up and destroying the thrust bearing causing the crank to be scrap. It was a cheapo rebuild I got cheap so it only had cast pistons and cast crank. I sold the shortblock for $100. It would rev nice and quick and sounded great.
