cross member help k10 short

Hi everyone, I'm having problems with getting cross member info. my project is a 71 chev short box 4x4. I've been on this project for 20 years. I just pulled it out of mothballs last year determined to get it drivable again. my issue is that there were no proper cross members from the oil pan back. I've gotten the rear ones done and I picked up an NOS trans member only to discover that its a 2wd one. I didn't think they did so many different xmembers like that.
question: can I use this NOS 2wd member, drill new holes and modify the mounts? or am I back out looking for the 4wd that I need?
