I Need help on Driveshaft
Hi Again Everyone: Been busy working fast and furious on our 68C10 Stepside. My question is, we want to eliminate the two piece driveshaft, (get rid of the carrier bearing) if possible. Need a lot more beefier driveshaft to take the horsepower. We've heard a thousand different ideas on ones we could use. But I would like some opinions from our most impressive experts on this board. Some people have said that because of the angle that we could not use a one piece, because it would shove the rearend over. Any ideas. Thanks, anxiously awaiting your input.

I'm not an expert but i talked to a bunch of driveshaft guys about doing a 1 piece when i did my tranny swap. From what i've read on this board the 1 piece swap will rub on that carrier piece if the truck is ever loaded down and you go over a bump.
Driveshaft guys told me you need at least a 4" shaft if you're thinking metals. However there is a company out here (so cali) that makes carbon fiber shafts, for the life of me i cant remember the name now but i'll probably remeber later. Anyways with the strength of that stuff you migth be able to get away with a smaller diameter and handle the power great. Either way it'll be a decently priced venture going to a 1 piece shaft. The driveshaft guys just said "They're made that way for a reason and you should stick with it in my opinion" like 3 shops said that same thing. Ehh you want it man go for it! Good Luck!
