Cool My 70 GMC 1500, and the work begins!

Hello everyone, I’m Chris from Bakersfield, Ca. I’ve been looking for a 67-72 for a few months and have been reading tons on this forum. Lots of great info here.

I Just drug this Home. 70 GMC 1500 Longbed. No protecto plate (they replaced the glovebox door with a chrome one). It’s got a 350/350, power steering, power brakes, starts and stops but needs a bunch of work to get roadworthy. Was converted to propane at one point but recently converted back to gas.

Checklist of stuff I can think of right now:

- lots of cleanup (cab floor, bed floor, engine compartment)
- Notch bed crossmember (they did a blazer tank swap but didn’t finish, bed is just sitting on one bolt) it has a metal bed btw
- Replace windshield ( this one is toast but does have nice nice stainless trim)
- Foam and cover seat
- Some electrical issues (parking lights are working but no headlights)
- driver external door handle, window crank, door locks, etc
- needs rear bumper
- brakes, gonna go through them and replace anything that needs it
- etc etc etc

Thanks!

For now yes to white. I like the satin/flat patina’d green look though. May do something like that in the future. Just have the shop truck look. Nothing fancy. Just clean and functional. I do plan to do a 2/4 coil spring lower on it also.

Here is my roached seat. Seems like there should be springs and not just some wires going front to back??
