My Rust-Oleum paint job
I finally figured out how to post pics after Photobucket bailed on us. Here's some pics of my truck after last summers rattle can paint job. You can compare them to my profile pic to see what I started with.

Re: My Rust-Oleum paint job
Look right decent. How many cans? I did a couple rattle can paint jobs back in high school. I did the math and it cost me way more than if I had bought a gallon of automotive paint. But you do need a compressor which I didn't have. I think the automotive paint has gotten much more pricey and that difference may no longer be the case.

Re: My Rust-Oleum paint job
Great job! You've got some serious finger fitness. You said Rustoleum and I wasn't sure at first if you meant rattle can or a paint brush. Years ago I owned a Bug that the PO brush painted with Rustoleum and you had to look at it very close to tell. He buffed it out beautifully. I have done several motorcycles with rattle cans and buffing compound so I can appreciate all your work. Be careful to keep gas from dripping on it. It not very fuel resistant.

Re: My Rust-Oleum paint job
I'd guess about 15 tall cans of the top coat. I should have kept a count. 8 months later it still looks as good. I do have a compressor, but not big, or powerful enough to run a spray gun. I was just going for a quick, cheap spruce up over the primer I've been driving around with for 14 years. I guess I need to update my profile pic now!

Looks good. I'm in the process of doing that myself but I'm using the roller method.

Re: My Rust-Oleum paint job
That looks nice! It would be nice to know how many cans it took. I agree, your fingers had to be soar. Haha

Re: My Rust-Oleum paint job
of beer or paint??? I think it was around 15 cans of paint. The best thing is touchups cost about $3.99.

I like it. Not having to worry about scratches and dings really makes a driver an actual driver.

Re: My Rust-Oleum paint job
Yup, mine gets used as a truck, not as a show queen. I haul logs, mulch, trash to the dump, gravel, anything I need.

Re: My Rust-Oleum paint job
My truck is unrestored and white. I've hit up some spots with Rustoleum. I got tired of looking at the sunburnt woodgrain and paint popped off below, so I...
For about $10 till it gets restored

Re: My Rust-Oleum paint job
In 73, myself and 3 others painted my girlfriends 67-68 Electra 225 with somewhere around 15 cans of dark gray primer. Believe me, it didn't come close to the job you accomplished. My girlfriends Dad was not impressed or happy. It was a quickly ended relationship. But still makes me smile...
