NY Modern Compass/temp/autodimming mirrors

I have 3 mirrors mirrors removed from modern cars that have Compass/temp dual display, and are auto dimming. I had originally intended one of these for my blazer, but had to let the project go when I moved. Since I don't have another use for these, I'll offer them for sale.

2x Gentex gntx-177 mirrors with 7 pin wire harness

1x Gentex gntx-261 mirror with 10 or 16 pin harness (I think)


all will have pigtail harnesses. I was originally going to run the wires inside the windshield frame of the blazer using the original bolt hole mounts for the wires, or run it under the windshield gasket.

You will need a temp sensor for this as well. they can be pulled from most GM cars. I have 2, and the first 2 sold will get them.

I am not able to test these anymore, but I had when I got them and the mirrors worked. The temp sensors are untested.

These also work well in newer trucks and cars that had the mirror you had to switch between the two. may be plug and play.

Here is the wiring diagram for the 177's I pulled from online.

Here is the low down on the connections to a Gentex mirror (with comp and temp) cut from a late model GM product. The connector pin numbers are found on the wire incursion side of the mating connector.

GM wire harness color function

PIN 1 PINK POWER +12 volts

PIN 2 BK CHASSIS, GND

PIN 3 LT GRN BACKUP LIGHTS

PIN 4 GY TO AUTO DIM OUTSIDE MIRROR

PIN 5 PINK TO AUTO DIM OUTSIDE MIRROR

PIN 6 DR GRN/WT TEMP PROBE

PIN 7 BK/WT TEMP PROBE

Note: Pin 3 is to be connected to the backup lights to turn off the auto dim feature in reverse. If you intend not to use this feature connect the LT GRN wire to chassis ground. If this pin is floating the auto dim will not work properly. Hope this helps.

Tested the two 177 mirrors and they power up correctly. Did not test the test as my wiring harness did not have it.

I did notice that one of the mirrors had theclip that holds the compass on broken. This part could be pulled from any mirror of the same type, or glued on. I'll knock $5 off for that.
