Shock relocation
I just purchased a 71 c10 shortbed coil spring rear and I want to lower it 3-4” in the front and 5-6” in the back. I am thinking about the bell tech lowering kit with the street performance shocks. My question is I see a lot of other kits have shock relocation brackets but this one doesn’t does that make a difference? Do I need to relocate them and if I do can I get any relocation brackets and use th bell tech shocks or do I need different shocks? By the way the bell tech kit is a 3” drop spindle and 1” lowering spring in th front and 5” lowering springs in the rear. Part #709sp. Thanks for any help

Couple of questions. What wheels are you planning to run? That kit has 3" spindles so your going to need 17" wheels. To me that is a base kit that you need to ad options to. You will want to ad the shock relocators and and a long adjustable track bar like the Early classics bar. I would also ad a 2 degree shim under the trailing arm mounts to correct the pinion angle. You will see them listed for the trucks on some sites.

Thanks jimmy I just picked up the truck it’s a 6cyl so I’m planning on doing a 350 swap so I’m trying to lower it somewhere in that range without spending too much money but at the same time I want to do it right do you have any better suggestions as far as a different kit or piercing one together myself? I like the spindle drop in the front for performance reasons.

I prefer a 2 1/2" spindle for wheel choice options I have thier springs and shocks and like them. I use the ECE super track bar and there shock brackets.

ok i think i might go with a 2 or 2.5" drop spindle so i can try to keep my 15" wheels for now. if i went with ece shock brackets i can just use that with the belltech shocks how do i measure the size or length that the shocks need to be?

Using a drop spindle in the front doesn't need a shorter spring because the mounting points don't move. The only need for a shorter shock comes in with the lowering spring. Same situation with a drop block in the rear.
I like what fellow member Frizzle Fry did with his truck on his shock relocation ideas. Allowes a stock length front shock to be used both front and rear. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...05#post4730005 That way you can use whatever shock you want, a softer shock for better ride or firmer shock for better performance.
