Bent frame

I noticed my front drivers side cab mount wasn't sitting flush against the frame and upon closer inspection I can see the frame is twisted right there.

Am I screwed?

Put a 3-4 footstraight edge on the frame so you can get an idea how tweeked it is. If possible get a photo of it. Then folks can help you decide if you have an issue or just frame patina.

"Frame patina" - I love it! You get people going on frame patina & every body will start bending their frames!

I bought a 4' straight edge and I put it against the bottom horizontal edge of the frame and there is less than 1/32'' gap to be found there.

Next was the straight down the length of the frame under the cab mount brackets and theres no gap to be found.

From top of frame at cab mount bracket down to the bottom of the front cab mount bracket and there is a gap of about 1/16th"

From top of front cab mount to bottom of rear cab mount same 1/16th inch.

If this isn't how I should be checking with the straight edge let me know.

Probably from somebody putting the vehicle on a lift incorrectly. I have a customers 72 K5 I'm working on---frame is out a 1/4'' and pushed in in the same spot. Had to get a porta-power in there just to remove the x-member to remove the t-case and trans

Yeah I was off I'm actually seeing closer to 1/4'' of a twist going on.

What harm is there in leaving it as is? I've heard frame straightening is expensive and a frame swap is cheap but labor intensive so if something like this is not likely to cause me any noticeable issues I'd rather just ignore it.

Have a 4 wheel alignment done at a competent shop. Preferably from a guy with gray hair. Explain your situation. If the alignment is "in the green" then you're good to go!
