Testing old springs
My son bought a rebuilder 1971 chevy 1/2 ton short bed step side and is going to replace original rear springs with new. My question is how can a guy check the tension on the old springs to see if they are still usable as i have one sagging rear spring that I would like to replace with one of my son's take offs. I know I can replace with new but don't want to spend the money. TIA

Re: Testing old springs
That sounds reasonable but want to make sure the stiffness of the springs are still at oem specs, that is why I wanted to know about spring stiffness testing and how to do it.

Re: Testing old springs
That makes sense sounds like new is the way to go, thanks for your input. Do you know what these oem springs are rated at?
