Quadrajet -Interchangable parts numbers?

Hi, all

First of all, excuse the bad english, its not my first language as Iam from Norway.

I discovered a gas leak from my Quadrajet and decided to take it off for inspection. It was leaking from the throttle body, passenger side (check picture).

Its a Chevrolet C20 Silverado, 350/350, 1976

I though the leakage was caused by a shot o-ring or something I could change quickly, and when I removed the screws from the front baseplates (I think its called), they all broke. Turns out its not constructed with o-rings.

Anyways, the carb leaks a couple of other places and probably need a new set of gaskets or a complete overhaul.

So I was thinking of just buying a remanufactured Quadrajet. At Rockauto.com they sell reman. for $276.

But my current carb have the numbers: 7045583, will this carb work? https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...718&cc=1032006

Alternate/OEM Part Number(s) does not match mine.

Thank you so much for helping

The only reason your carb leaked there is because it was flooding.
That one from rockauto will work for you as it has the same style choke. Bolt it on and go.

Your carb 7045583 is made for a 1975 to 1976 gmc. The alternate numbers are all for trucks in the same year range so will work good for you.

Thank you for the answer

So the carb may be fine? It was smelling strongly of gas and pooling gas on the intake. And if I manage to attach the throttle plates again it should work?

Possibly.
Post a pic of the screws you broke.
Some replacements are available depending on which ones.

Live and learn!
Look here for oversize screws to put it back together.

https://quadrajetparts.com/fasteners...ck-p-2220.html

And carb kits.

https://quadrajetparts.com/quadrajet...-c-128_33.html

They do sell standard sized screws too but usually removing them ruins the threads so oversize works better.

And here’s a book you might need.

Here’s some info on rebuilding the carb. Pay close attention to the section on the correct way to install the needle/seat.
