Repair Door/Glass weatherstrip

To renew the horizontal weatherstip between door glass and door on inside of cab......................

Tools/Materials Needed:-----
-- 2 narrow putty knives (2 table knives will work!)
-- Weatherstrip Adhesive
-- 2 - Felt pile weatherstrips approx. 1/2" X 1/4" deep X approx 26" long.
This felt pile weatherstrip is inserted in a machined groove on
aluminum patio doorsfor a draft sealant. Can be obtained at most
of the larger glass/door repair facilities.

The metal strips are attached to the door with 5 clips. Working from inside of door, remove the metal strip by inserting a narrow putty knife on each side of the clips. Spring the top of the metal strip outward to enable removal. Be careful to spring the clip tang just enough to remove the metal; taking care not to break off the tang. Remove the old pile from the strip. After 30+ years; removal is easy with a single edge razor blade or an X-Acto knife to remove all threads and old pile. After slight sanding and wire brushing; apply appropiate primer and glossy black paint. Note that one end of the strip is square and the other end is a slight angle. The square end is inserted under the vent window. Follow instructions on the weatherstrip adhesive and glue the new pile/weatherstrp to the metal strip. Leave about 1/2 inch for the square end to fit under the vent window. After the adhesive has set up; install the strips into the door. Suggest slightly bending the tangs inward for a tight fit.........And the job is done !!!!!!
