Brake problem on daily driver - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

okay now, frankenstein has a brake leak and i cannot fix it, i tried tighting it but it did nothing and it has gotten to where i have to bleed the brakes on the truck everyother day and that is getting real old, i bled the brakes on saturday and parked it in my parents driveway until monday when i drove it home and about half way home the brakes started acting up and i had to gimp the truck about 75 miles back to my house, what do you thing could be my problem i need to get this fixed as it is my daily driver and right now my only drivable vehicle.

Where is it leaking? If it is right down by your wheel, I would suggest you go ahead & replace teh brake bleeder screw & brake cylinder. We're talking about $10-14. Of course, be sure to bleed it out afterwards.

The brake fluid is leaking from somewhere. First locate the leak source. Look all along the brake lines from the wheel cylinders/calipers to the master cylinder. Fix the leak.

Don't knowingly drive a vehicle that is leaking brake fluid. It will be much more expensive to your wallet and health to fix a wrecked truck than to fix the brakes.

if you have the original 35year old brake lines and hoses that they need to be replaced or maybe it's the master cylinder

all of the brake lines have been replaced and so have the hoses, the bleeder screws, and the wheel cylinders, i was messing with them this afternoon and i did get them to work better but i was testing them in a parking lot close to the house and they would work but i could not get them to lock up, i am going to bleed them toniight and see if that does anything i did go and double check the fittings near where the leak is, so hopefully this will work.

Do you know where the leak is? If it is in a connection, sometimes the inverted flare will crack when tightened. Good luck John

Where is the leak???? is it at the wheel? at the hose connection? at the Master Cyl? Why is it you can't fix the leak?
