HELP! Horn Cap and Mounting Hardware
Can someone provide some guidance on what parts I need to put a functioning horn in the original steering wheel (1962 C10). I searched the Classic Industries catalog and Summit and found Part #OER K137 which looks correct but the year in the description 69-72 does not include my truck. Will this work? If not what do I need.
Thanks |

Re: HELP! Horn Cap and Mounting Hardware
LMC sells all the parts you need to put it together. The cap is a little pricy at $60 but the rest of the parts only cost $17.00.

Re: HELP! Horn Cap and Mounting Hardware
Great timing. I just spent way too long last night trying to install the LMC kit in my 65. Pictures in kit and factory manual are both vague and contradict each other. Anybody have a picture of the order of parts. every time I tighten all three mounting screws down the horn blows, have to leave two loose for it to work correctly. Don't know if I have the same problem as original poster, or if our years have the same parts, but maybe someone can help us both.
Thanks, Tom

Re: HELP! Horn Cap and Mounting Hardware
Well, thought I had it figured out. Looks like the LMC kit and Highlanders (very clear) directions both apply only to the deluxe horn ring. I have the standard horn button. The LMC parts don't work at all, and when I use the old (very different) parts I have to leave the three 10-32 mounting screws loose or the horn stays on all the time. This does not seem right, what am I missing?
Thanks for any help, Tom

Re: HELP! Horn Cap and Mounting Hardware
I am going through the same thing Tom, I have a 60 C10, it had a wooden wheel in it. I bought a new wheel and mounting kit from LMC, cant figure it out. I realized that I needed a mounting cup with a notch in it for the standard cap to fit, but cant buy one anywhere. Took one from a 70's truck, cant seem to make it work. Did you figure anything out?
