Lowering C20 front end

Need a sanity check here.

I'm dropping the back by flipping the axle. Should be 6" or so.

Trying to figure out what to do with the front end.

Cutting the springs looks easy enough but I keep reading I will have almost no travel if I go that route.

I started looking into drop spindles which led to disk brakes. That would be very nice.

Found this kit but dang, mucho dinero.

Is it worth going with a kit for the brakes and improved ride? I suppose I could just cut the springs then go for the kit later if it sucks.

I already have disk brakes on my 72 2500, but will be doing the drop spindles on mine when the time comes, and for the reason mentioned. The suspension should just work better with all travel available.

Will the stock brake system work with the disks or am I looking at a new booster as well?

What if you just by the spindles and buy everything else in the kit from rockauto...using 71+ parts. So you get the right ball joints...etc...

I agree that's pretty pricey...

You will need a proportioning valve and maybe a new master cylinder....booster should be ok...

My main reason for looking at a kit was that I know nothing about brakes. Sounds like I need to do some reading.

I'm interested in this too. I think you have a point...this kit is pricey for what it is and there's several reviews regarding POL about some customer service issues. I think this could be pieced together with the POL spindle and Rock Auto parts with the right research and knowledge.

While I freshened up my front end, I slipped in 2 1/2" drop coil springs. I put in 4" drop coil springs in the rear. Bought them through summit racing

I'll check out Rockauto. Now that I look at what is actually in the kit I at least know what I'm looking for. I've done about everything to dirtbikes but a truck is totally new for me.

Did you get a full 2 1/2" drop in the front with the Summit springs ? I cut 1 coil on my stock springs & it still looks too high.

Good call on Rock Auto. I dropped the cheapest stuff I could find into the cart and came up to around $225. Add drop spindles and I would be about half the price of the kit.

I'd probably go a little higher end on the parts but looks like it would still be much cheaper to piece together what I need.

I guess that just leaves making sure the 71+ spindles and tie rod ends bolt up to the 69 stock stuff.

THat's a good question I'm sure someone can answer. I know on the 1/2 ton the center link that the tie rods attach to is different on the 71+ trucks

Yes, I got the full 2 1/2" drop in the front, with swapping coil springs

Where in NJ are you located ? I am in Warren County, about 10 miles from the PA border.

How does it ride? I keep reading different things about just dropping with springs vs the spindle.

I'm in Union County.

The truck rides solid. I've replaced all suspension in it to make it the best it's gonna be. It's no Caddy, but it doesn't beat me up when I hit a rough patch in the road.
