Question HELP please - Air Conditioning

Hello-- have a 1973 Chevy truck. Am restoring the air conditioning system. I'm installing new compressor, new hoses and & new accumulator. Using my old condensor & evaporator. During my resto. I want to convert over to R134 refrigerant. Can anyone recommend conversion kit and/or walk me through the process? What type of PAG oil do I put in my new compressor ? How thoroughly (if any) do I need to clean out any old oil, etc. in the system ? ANy assistance is GREATLY appreciated. -- TM (garmco)

I did the same conversion and used the same parts as you. Use new o-rings at the connections. Use the R134 oil. As for the conversion kit, well all it is are new fittings that fit over the old ones. They are used only to fit the R134 fittings. And they tend to leak too. I've been running for three years now and it is still cold!!!

Actually the cheapest conversion kit I have found is at Target (of all places). You really need to flush, then put a vaccuum your system out.
