Need help with a build date
I’m going thru the drive train in my 72 at the moment and I’ve got my transfer case torn down, being prepped for re assembly. I noticed the case has a tag screwed to it that has what appears to be an early may 1972 build date(don’t recall the day and I didn’t take a picture). My truck is a Janesville build, the vin is CKE242J160173 I’m hoping SSTim or others could maybe help me approximately nail down the day my truck was built.
Thanks for any input.

Re: Need help with a build date
I’ve seen SSTim be able to narrow it down pretty good with other plants based on the build sequence if I’m not mistaken.

Re: Need help with a build date
Is the build date sticker still inside the driver's side door frame?

Re: Need help with a build date
Looking into this.
Without a Blue certification sticker, Protect O Plate or Build sheet (pretty much a "Z" fremont Assembly only find) ts hard to prove a date or range. Even the sticker or POP will only give you a month/year. The buildsheet lists a "scheduled" build date. This leaves the stampped engine assembly code date,if it's the original engine !! Without cross documenting dates its a best guess as a stand alone. But I an waiting for an email reply from the owner of a truck built just 74 units later. The blue sticker picture I have is horrible and even enhanced its not much help. We have documented serials covering about 73,000 units from Janesville Truck assembly in 72. Fuzzy math would put your truck's build about June 6/72. At this point I'm going to say 6/72 is your likely build month. Hopefully I can confirm this at a later date for you.

Re: Need help with a build date
Your the man Tim! Unfortunately the original engine and drivers door are both long gone. And there was no build sheet or protecto when I bought the truck.I knew you would have a ballpark idea. I’d love to hear what you find out about the other truck. Thank you!

Just this morning, received a reply. No date yet but a POP picture is promised. Hope to confirm a build month soon.
