Some interesting info

Not sure what it's like where you live, but here in Ontario Canada, we are bordering to be a police state. Lots of people are getting pulled over and ticketed for real minor things, because this is revenue for our Government.
One thing they really clamp down on is weight of vehicles and trailers both actual or registered weight.
Take our Blazers for example; My 1970 has a GVWR of 5000 LBS. This means that fully loaded including cargo, passengers and tongue weight (if towing) ,the truck cannot weigh more than 5000Lbs . For $hits and giggles I took my truck to get weighed today. I emptied everything out of it and made sure the fuel tank was full. Also, I had no top on it, not even my Softopper. The truck weighs 4780 Lbs. I'm 240 Lbs, which means I am over the weight limit by 20 LBS when driving it alone. I believe in 1971, the GVWR is listed at 5500LBS, but that is still way too low IMO. It's impossible to follow the laws sometimes.

I should have left this Country 35 years ago. You Americans don't realize how good you have it. It's all the little things that add up that makes living here crappy. We have a few things that are better (like not getting shot when I walk out the door, LOL), but It's getting to the point that I can't afford to be Canadian. :-(

Cant you step up the registration? In Illinois there are different plates that go by weight and we can over register. What do you have for registration up there?

What wheels/tires do you run? You easily add 200lbs going from stock to 33" tires. And larger diameter wheels also add unecessary unsprung weight.

We have a similar system where you can pay more for yearly plates, but you cannot register the weight for higher than the GVWR. The GVWR is put on there by the manufacturer and cannot be changed.

I’m running 12.5 x 33 tires, but there’s no way that it would add 200 lbs over the stock wheels.

seeing a post like yours make's me realize how thankful I am to live where I do....

I work in nj and you can register more than the gvwr. You would register for the vehicle weight and then plus what your gonna tow and carry. Every state is different. It sucks that they all don't just make one system for everyone. Move to PA Hemi, you'll have nothing to worry about. lol....

The GVWR rating of a vehicle is put there by the manufacturer because they engineered and certified it . Going over the limit is a safety issue and I highly doubt that you can get plates that exceed it regardless of where you live.

Come to Texas😁. We have the room and really like Canucks. Non-commercial vehicles aren’t regulated below 25K pounds within the state. 10k of you cross over into another state, but that’s too far away for most of us to worry about.

If I could live in the States, Texas is most likely where I would end up. Definitely no where near California, it's as bad as here !! LOL
