New Windshield Installed
Thought I'd pass this on.
I had the new windshield installed on my 83 last week by "Windshields to Go" https://www.windshieldstogo.com/ I scheduled it to be installed the day after I bought it. The installer was on time & did the install in a professional manner. I had bought the shaded one with antenna & the price installed was $215.00 & NO tax. (not including the gasket or lock beading if needed) He was able to reuse the original gasket as it was still in very good shape. The chrome locking strip was not included & I installed that myself. This is the 2nd windshield that I have bought from them. The other one was for a 67 El Camino I had. IMO they are great to do business with & their windshields are of good quality & come with a warranty. They also have the rear glass in certain cases.

I lucked out on my gasket as it was still in good shape. Don't cheat on getting the right gasket & then it fits like crap. I like this company as they make their own gaskets. https://www.steelerubber.com/windshi...ket-70-1917-50 Also, make sure that you buy the tool to install that chrome strip https://www.google.com/search?q=Lisl...hrome&ie=UTF-8

Re: New Windshield Installed
I got a new windshield gasket from Steele for my '78 and had a professional bring out a windshield and install it. The gasket fit fine, but was much stiffer than an original, even after laying in the sun on the driveway for hours. The guy had a heck of a time doing the install. A week later I discovered that I had a crack started from one of the corners.
The installer went to a local salvage yard and got an OE gasket in good shape and brought it out with a new windshield. Went in with no problem and I have had zero problem with it. He told me while doing the initial install that you should always reuse the original gasket as long as it isn't torn up. All of the new ones are stiffer than OE.
