Several reasons I chose to do it the way I did:

1) As I said in my post, my cab is pristine and I didn't want to hack it up.
2) If necessary, I can easily change doors back just by changing strikers.
3) I bought strikers for $24. However you source door jamb patches (parts cab?) would cost much more than that.
4) Striker plate modification is FAR simpler than door jamb reconstruction.
5) As far as "cleanliness" goes, when I'm done painting and detailing my door jambs, I challenge anyone to tell that they're not factory. Heck, I may even get them chromed!

BTW, this trial fit below proved that they close and latch like OEM - hooray!
