Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
I have a 99 gmc Sierra 5.3 it has a 4l60e. I am building a lq4 out of a 2001 Denali. Will my 4l60e bolt right up to my 6.0?

It will bolt up but it won't last very long.

Re: Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
Didn't the 6.0L come backed with the 4L80E.
If that's the case think of it like a 327 or 350 being backed by a TH350 and a 454 backed by a TH400.... or 4.8 and 4.5 with 4L60 and 6.0L with 4L80. Some good info here: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topi...t-the-lq4-60l/

Re: Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
I would definitely put a 80e behind it. I wouldn't even mess with building the 60e to hold up to a 6.0.

Re: Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
It will bolt right up I like to use my old flywheel when I do swaps and just make sure if your using one of the older 6.0s if it has the spacer between the crank and flywheel take it out. As far as the built 60 i've gone thru 3 and mine has all the goofies on it pi multi disc converter, trans cooler w/fan right now its getting rebuilt case it was starting to go out again so I recommend if.you can swap to a good 80e its worth it if you plan on beating on it, my 6.0 has cam/heads, fbo, nnbs intake and pretty much a whole bunch of goodies.

Re: Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
All 6.0L LQ9 & LQ4 that were installed in 1/2 ton chassis had either a 4L60E or 4L65E. A well built 4L60E can EASILY handle a cam/heads 6.0L...Where a stock 4L80E will handle it.

Re: Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
Wasn't there a good bit of torque management programmed into these trucks though? Even with the 4l80e there was torque management programming. Not saying it wouldn't work but there might have been a programming difference to help make the 60/65 last longer behind the 6.0.

Re: Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
I'm sure there was too. Even the 5.3 is held back quite a bit.

Yes, It will work. Non LS 4L80E's don't have the top center bellhousing bolt.

Re: Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
Reviving an old thread here questioning my thoughts of running a 6.0L/4L60e combo in my 70 C10. I have the tranny in my garage with plans to do a 5.3 LS swap, then found a better deal on an LQ4. Lot's of opinions saying a 4L60e would hold up fine, and even more saying not a chance.
Seems to me that if GM didn't put the 4L60e behind the 6.0L neither should I, or am I just not adventurous enough?

Re: Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
GM DID put the 4l65e behind the 6.0 ...and this is basically the same tranny

Re: Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
We all know the drivers right foot can tear up most anything. The life of tranny will hinge largely on how it is driven and how well serviced\maintained.

Re: Will my 4l60e fit my 6.0
So if it boils down to building a performance 4L60e vs finding a stock 4L80e, i’d probably go with the latter .
