Blazer body shim vs core support
Wondering which way would be the better way to go. I either need to shim my core support up or take body shims out to get my front fender and door alignment. Any input is appreciated.

Re: Blazer body shim vs core support
Going to be really hard to diagnose problems like this but I know the B pilar alignment/shim is pretty critical.
First question though - do you have NEW body mounts in and is the top on? |

Re: Blazer body shim vs core support
Body mounts are brand new. Ordered one of the full rubber sets from classic heartbeat I believe. I replaced the shims exactly as the were before. The top will not be going back on.

Re: Blazer body shim vs core support
B pillar alignment is good, was a little bit of a pain but got it in place

Re: Blazer body shim vs core support
Tub/body shims get done first for correct door alignment. The last body mounts to be adjusted are the rad support ones. Do it out of sequence and you'll end up with a can of worms.

Re: Blazer body shim vs core support
It's written about in the factory assembly manual. Maybe someone can post a pic. Also I do recall seeing it in previous threads - try searching.

Re: Blazer body shim vs core support
OK sooo. I'm going to go ahead and shim the core support then. Next question are there specific shims for accomplishing this, as mine had none before. Can I use body shims in the core support locations? What about some suburban/truck rubber mounting pads?

Re: Blazer body shim vs core support
FWIW, it's been 3 years since the restoration, and I developed a small rattle in the driver's door latch area. I noticed the gap at the rear of the door was not parallel anymore and was wider at the top. I loosened the rear body mount on the driver's side as well as the one in front of it by the filler neck of the fuel tank. I added a 1/4" shim in both and tightened it back up. This was enough to get rid of the wide gap as well as the rattle by the latch.

Re: Blazer body shim vs core support
That has already been answered for you ! The core support shims will align the fenders to the front of the doors. It's really not rocket science. Don't touch the body tub shims unless you have door to body issues. Not trying to be rude, but if you can't visualize what needs to be done, then maybe it's best that you take it to someone that knows what to do.
