67 frame question
Hi,
Will a frame from a 67 SWB c10 fit using a 1970 cab? Any differences between a 67 to a 70 frame. Any advise would be great. I guess a better way to ask the question is will a 67 chassis SWB work on my 1970 SWB? Thx |

Re: 67 frame question
Yes , If you have PS in the 70 you may have to dimple the 67 frame to fit the power steering box to the frame , No big deal .

Re: 67 frame question
The holes in the top of the core support brackets were smaller in diameter on my 67 C10 vs those on my 69 C10 so the poly bushings didn't retrofit without a little metal work.
The width of the frame rail top flange near the engine mounts was wider on the 67 vs my 69 also. It caused header tube clearance issues using the same engine, trans, crossmember, frame mounts and headers is why I figured this out. It was only about a 1/4" but with a big block and 2" tube headers every little bit counts. As noted above there are non-power steering versions of the 67 frame also that require extra effort to install power steering onto them. In addition I have come across later (68 & 69 for sure) manual steering trucks that the core support brackets were not clearanced for a power steering gear box even though the frame was designed to take one. Required about 1/4" to be taken off one corner of the core support bracket so the gear box could mount up flush without bending the core support bracket.

Re: 67 frame question
You may want to check with dmv to see what is necessary for numbers.

Re: 67 frame question
Thanks For the input. I thought I had A lead on a clean frame but it fell through, so still looking for a 67-72 frame in good shape. I don't mind paying for a good quality piece.
