loss power
hey guys, so i had to switch out the radiator in my k5 LS 5.3. well i took it out for a small drive (3 minutes) the temp gauge shot up to red area, engine light when on and the truck lost its power. got home open the hood and the coolant was low topped it off let it idle and everything is fine except for the engine light still being on. so i unplugged my battery for a hour plugged it back in and started it so far no issues engines idle nice my concern was the loss of power that happen should i worry or did the computer think the truck was endanger so it trip the motor up?

Re: loss power
I’m guessing low power mode. I think it’s kicks on to save itself from damaging itself in circumstances such as yours like a faulsafe mode. I would guess once reset you should be good to go.

Re: loss power
I'm guessing you also have a air pocket in the engine...if your temp shot up quick....you'll need to take the top radiator hose loose from the radiator, hold it up and fill the engine ...you may need to keep topping the hose off til all the air is out of the engine...be sure to use distilled water...
As far as your loss of power I'm guessing it went into limp mode...
