HELP with this problem plz
I am looking for help getting my wife's dream truck I just got her running.
I just got my wife a 1969 C-10, 350, manual, truck. It sat without any gas in it for 9 months. We replaced the battery, put treatment and new gas in it. The truck will run if I keep spraying the starter fluid into the carb, but will not seem to run on just the new gas we put into it. It was a dry tank and I added only 5 gallons. I have checked everything I know to check, but there is a manual choke cable in the dash and laying unattached on the fenderwell in the engine compartment. Any advice would be greatly helpful

Make sure the fuel pump is pumping gas.sometimes the diaphragm in the pump will dry out and pump gas into the crank case

Welcome! There could also be a clogged fuel filter, and there may be more than one to check / replace. If it has a Q-jet, there's a small filter at the inlet tube.

Re: HELP with this problem plz
Is gas shooting from the accelerator pump squirters?
Is gas being pumped to the carb? Today's gas has methanol in it, which attracts moisture (water) and rots fuel systems. Chances are you need to clean and/or rebuild the carb, and clean out the fuel system. That's carb, fuel lines and gas tank. |
