3 point seat belts
I just noticed that I have a bolt hole in both somewhat upper corners of my cab, I was wondering if anyone has used these to install a set of 3 point seat belts. I curently only have one seat belt and it is on the passengerside and I have no idea what it came out of. I figured while I have the bench seat out at the moment I would put a set of seat belts in it but would also like to install a set of 3 point units in it. Any one done this and what models did you getr yours from?

Seat belts out of an S-10 work, although they are slightly short so if you are big in the gut they may not work for you. The passenger side will fit where the old belts bolted. The drivers side would except fo the gas tank is in the way, so you will probably have to drill a hole to mount it.
You may have to bend the mounting plate on the S-10 belts to make them sit level (so they work correctly). There are also Custom Belts on the market that you can buy. I believe the bolts for the shoulder brackets are 7/16" Fine Thread. Good Luck and get some belts in there! |

I installed a set using the hole in the wall. I got a set of 3-pointers from Chevy Duty. I don't really like the latch. It's not a push button type, but rather a lift latch type similar to an airplane seatbelt latch. If you catch it on any article of clothing, you are UN-LATCHED going down the road. When I switch out the seat, I will be ditching these as fast as possible.

I bought a pair of 3-point belts from a lae 80's standard cab S10 for my truck. Hands down the best mod i have done...i feel 10x safer with them.
The passenger side retractor and buckles were a direct bolt in. I used the stock hole and bolt in the floor, and put in a bolt in the threaded insert in the cab roof. The buckle went right in place of the stock and was the prefect lenght too, not too short. The driver's side was almost a complete bolt in, except i had to drill a hole more forward in the cab floor to bolt down the retractor. I used a big washer, although i proably need to upgrade to a bigger one. It took me about an hour to get everything end and cost me $30 for the belts plus a few dollars for some grade-8 hardware. Completely worth it.

I really wanted to get 3 points in mine so as soon as I got the thing I got a nice set of push button, self retracting types from Rick's Pickup Parts. Went right into the old mounts and the top corners. Real happy with them. I saved the origianls in case I ever sell the thing and the next owner wants to take it back to stock.

I did the same.Rick's hooked me up with blue 3pts for my suburban.I am a big guy and the belts fit fine.

Thanks guys for the responses, I checked out Chevy duty's price a little high, tried Rick's but couldn't find anything about seatbelts, went to the junkyard today and looked over some different vehicles including some S10's that were all faded or rotted out and decided to order some from Wesco Performance plus I also ordered a center seatBelt as well and all required hardware. Will have it here tomorrow.

Be very choosy with used belts. When they wear and dry rot the aren't very good. There is a reason racing belts have dates on them, and they are not legal after 2 years. It's small insurance.

Second request for pics. Will I be able to use all original holes? Is hardware included? And these are retractable right. What kind of latch do they have?-- Regular button style I hope ( not the aircraft type mentioned earlier) Thanks, Tom

I looked thru all of the pics I have and I guess I never took any and I don't have access to any trucks we have installed them in right now. The only gray is a medium gray color, and they are the button type of latches. There are a few members that have installed them if they read this maybe they could snap a few pics for you.

i got mine from a '80s suburban...they are longer than the s-10 belts...no cost to me as the guy was parting the 'burb and we give him a lot of business. we had to drill holes to mount the base but thats not abig deal...just make sure that what you get them out of wasn't wrecked or they would have been stretched and are no good.

Does that setup need a separate non retracting lap belt? I'm trying to picture what it would look like installed... Anyone else have pics? Oh yeah, sorry I guess I've become a highjacker

TomsC10R- The female end sits in the bench seat, or can hang in the console with the seatbelt holder. The male end just bolts into the stock hole in the cab and you have to drill a hole or make a bracket to bolt down the retractor. I will try to find a pic installed.
