Few Questions on a '69 C20 (Supposedly a C20)
Hows it going fellas, I'm new here and I've mostly dealt with '73-'87 pickups and K5's.
I picked up a '69 C20 CST this past Friday and ended up selling it Sunday night due to a lot of issues that had surfaced after I had bought, roof rust, spray foam, caulking, cab supports formed out of gutter materials and so on... I've found another '69 C20, supposedly a C20. It's in much better condition than the previous one but it has 6 lug hubs front and rear... I thought the C10's came with a 5 lug hub pattern and the 20 and 30 series came with 8 lugs. The '69 that I just sold was 8 lug front and rear. I'm a little confused and I'm looking for some help identifying exactly what I'm gonna be dealing with. Also, the fellow said it had 12 bolts on the rear diff cover. I believe the 20 series is supposed to have an Eaton out back which would have 10 bolts on the rear cover with the drop out 3rd member. Were 12 bolts used in the '67-'72 trucks? Just looking for some help on this fellas, maybe it's a C10 with some 6 lug stuff on it? |

6 lug is a 1/2 ton until 71 when it changed to 5 lug with disc brakes. (4x4 was still 6 lug) 8 lug would be a 20 or 30 series.

Quote:
If the third character in the VIN is a 2, the truck was born a 3/4 ton (C20). If it's a 1, the truck was born a 1/2 ton (C10). It's also possible the cab or frame was replaced in the past adding to the confusion. |
