Yes It will work.
You stated it had a block off plate and you bought rod and pump.
Maybe the Original push rod is still in there?
You could get lucky.
Either way make sure the lobe on the cam of the fuel pump rod is on the down side of the cam lobe(NON-Active) and install a new mechanical pump.

Make sure you have the correct length bolts when taking the plate off and putting the pump on.

This is very important!!!
