I dropped my tank today (91 350 suburban) because it was running terrible, i kept seeing where chevytech would encourage to test instead of throw parts at it. So i ordered a fuel pressure gauge and tested my pressure it was super low. Pulled the tank and found this so my question is the hose is it correct? It looks and feels like pipe insulation lol. Could fuel line look like this or did somebody just use something they had? You could just pull the pump out it was held by the clamp or anything. While i'm here i gonna install a new delco pump and i think i need a sending unit too my gauge isn't working. I think you can test with a ohm meter but i don't know how.

thats correct . just the hose is DEAD from age and prob so old its NOT compatable with ethonal mixed fuels.

good call on new acdelco pump .

stock tbi is as low as 9psi and up to 12ish psi . most guys find they run good with adjustable regulator kit and 13-15 psi range . but thats a later mod for you . just get her running .

Did GM use those plastic hose clamps? I didn't think so. Submersible fuel hose is hard to come by. When I needed some a few years ago nobody at the parts stores had ever heard of it. I found it online for a fairly high price but I didn't want to wait for it so I reused my old one. My old 1978 (Cadillac) fuel hose was in much better shape than yours. Yours doesn't look like regular fuel hose though. It may be the original hose that just isn't as good as the older hose they used to use. I'm still curious about those plastic clamps though. Somebody must have been in there before. I actually used those plastic clamps on my Caddy hose but I can't remember what it originally had.

Yea I never dreamed a fuel line could get that wasted, got new parts hopefully fixed next week.

Just to close this thread out I replaced the pump and hose and sending unit. Fixed all my running / driving problems and gauge. Glad I checked my pressure instead of of throwing parts at it.

SAE-J30R10 is the hose you're looking for. It's between $20 & $40 per foot. Since you only need around 6" of it that's not the end of the world.

SAE J30R10 is for in-tank fuel pumps with up to E20 fuels. I always buy a chunk when I install a new in-tank fuel pump. Unfortunately, I've found that the pump manufacturer supplied hoses aren't usually J30R10 compliant so they do what you saw when you opened the tank. The right hose will eventually break down but it takes a long long time.
