Bed frame brackets

Forward of the rear wheelsriveted to the frame are 3 brackets on each frame rail (LWB). The first two brackets on each side starting at the cab appear to be the same between 2wd and 4wd vehicles. It's the one immediately before the rear wheels I have a question about. I took the bed off of a 2wd 67 and I'm installing it on a 71 K20 chassis, the brackets mentioned above came off of a 2wd truck, the first two brackets line up with the bed cross members, the ones directly in front of the rear wheels do not. The mounting surfaces on each side of this cross member is wider than the brackets, is this because the brackets came off of a 2wd frame and should I try and find these brackets from a 4wd frame? The brackets look like little wings sticking off of each frame rail, I assume this is where on a 2wd that the frame bows out? I'll post a pic this evening. Thanks,

The brackets could be different between the two wheel drive and the four wheel drive. On your K-20 there is a cross member at the bracket location and there is not one like it on the two wheel drive. I don't have a two wheel drive frame to look at but I do have a four wheel drive frame, so if you need a pic of the brackets, let me know.

i am having some similar issues with my 67 c-30. my truck was originally a chassis cab from the factory and the original owner built a box to haul his farm produce in to the local markets. the chassis cab models did not come with the bed to frame mounting brackets so i have acquired the 6 brackets but am debating the method of safely and ruggedly mounting them to the frame. i am installing a 9ft stepside bed on my truck and have acquired most of the parts i need. i am wondering what method you are using to mount your brackets to your frame. just wondering whether to bolt, weld or bolt & weld or let a pro re-rivet.
my factory assembly manual has a really good diagram of the frames of the 3 different wheelbases.it seems that the only difference is the spacing between the brackets depending on whether you have a 127" or 133" wheelbase. the 115" wheelbase has 4 brackets and not 6. there appears to be no difference between c and k models but the diagram appears to be for 67-68 models so that may not be much help. i think by looking closely at the diagrams that i have that a 67 or 68 c or k model lwb bed to frame mounting brackets would interchange. however my assembly manual does not give a corresponding diagram of the later model frames in the series.

I used grade 8 3/8" bolts. It'll be stronger than the bolts that actually hold the bed to the brackets. Also all the bed bolts behind the wheels will be bolted to the frame. I forgot to get pics, will do this evening.

Here is a pic of a 71 4x4 bracket LWB (the one just in front of the rear end).

Jim, Thanks. It appears that bracket is different from the 2wd and 4wd. The 2wd does not stick out as far.
