Looks like a aftermarket secondary fuel tank. Probably has a butterfly lever or knob somewhere on the floor (next to hump or just under the front of the seat) to manually shift from the factory tank to the aftermarket tank.

Gregs71 you are correct. There are two switches, one on the dashboard (aftermarket) next to the brake controller and another on the floor right beside the drivers seat. Both work but they both have to be switched to the same tank at the same time to work.

This truck is like the gift that keeps on giving. When I bought the truck I noticed there were some tools wrapped up in rags behind the seat (or so I thought). Today my curiousity got the best of me so I opened them up to see what was inside. Turns out its the anchors for the overhead camper if you had one. I may be wrong but thats' what I think they are.

So for the last couple of days I have been doing the brakes on my truck. The fronts just needed pads and a good cleaning while the rears need everything. Brake shoes, hardware, wheel cylinders, axle seals etc etc. In my attempt to swap out wheel cylinders the new ones are 1/4 wider preventing them from seating correctly and not fitting between the bracket on the backing plate. So I break down the old and the new cylinders to see if the piston sizes are the same so I can rebuild the old cylinders. Well after a good degreasing I realize these may be the original wheel cylinders that came with the truck when new. Talk about character. I just think today's parts are made to be disposed of while the old parts where built to be rebuilt and reused. I hope they don't leak once rebuilt. I look at the casting and think if they could talk what kind of stories would come from the miles these have seen.

Wow, that's a very nice truck. Mine also seems to have been a CA truck it's whole life, but has some floorboard rust issues... I hope yours doesn't, I didn't even think to look there with no holes elsewhere.

For pictures, I'd suggest uploading them to www.imgur.com and then img tagging them here. A feature of imgur that most sites don't have is that you can put various letters immediately before the .jpg to resize them, so they aren't huge. h (for "huge") is the size I typically use, I think it's 1024x768, which is a reasonable size for forums. l (for "large) is 800x600, a little small for today's monitors. http://imgur.com/yWP94kU is a picture of my truck that I uploaded. If I recall the front rotors were available. The back however is a different story. Still haven't been able to find a set of drums but the truck has been on the back burner for now while I work on another project.

Not much lately. Swapped out the points distributor for an HEI and tuned up the truck. I need to replace the fuel lines (dried rubber lines) on the tank and get the timing set better.
