Cab trim band cut and polished

Cut and polishing the cab trim and bed trim

EZ -OFF to remove the anodizing the 220 grit to remove the grain then 600,800,1000,1500 and 2000 grit and polished on my buffer

Elbow grease and white diamond metal polish. I polish all of my aluminum and wheels etc. pretty regularly so not worried about that...............lol

When sanding sand a different direction when changing grits so you can tell when the previous grit scratches are gone. 220 done dry the rest is done wet. The buffer is a Harbour Freight 6in cheap job using white rouge. Finish it off by hand with White Diamond aluminum polish.

I just paid a company to polish my tailgate band like yours and they made a mess of it

Looks like they sanded it with sander. You can save it I would hand sand it to start with 220 long ways until those marks are gone the other direction with 400 wet so you can see when the 220 marks are gone the 600 800 1000 1500 2000 and buff it once you get it smooth it will buff by hand pretty good if yo don’t have a buffing wheel

I appreciate the info, I still cant believe they sent this back to me in this shape,there suppose to be professional company that does polishing and for what they charged me to

thanks for the help! I still have sum light scratches in it but it looks 100 percent better Im still mad over what that place did and they charged a premium to

That does look way better. You ought to send that company that ripped you off doing shotty work, an e-mail with the work you did. My god, I would have been livid, if I had gotten my parts back looking like that!!
Just out of curiosity, and you don't have to answer, I would understand if you didn't. But what did that place charge for the tailgate band? And what was the name of the place? I would want to make sure no one else sent their parts to them, jeez.

I wish there was a really good polisher you could trust to do these tail gate bands....definitely be worth it if it turned out like your all's
