Side Marker Lights
I put some new front turn signal lenses on my 69 C/10 yesterday. After I finished up, I pulled one of the side marker lights to see if the bulb was out. Well, it was out because it's not there. I've owned 2 Blazers(71&72) and a 72 K10. I had NO idea that in 1969 the side markers were just...reflectors? No wiring harness, no holes in the back of the reflectors. Was this an option or simply wasn't a thing in 1969? I also noticed there is no door jam switch for the cab interior light...was that an option as well? Never too old to learn huh? I'm imagining that the harnesses for the side marker lights can be added in?

Re: Side Marker Lights
Lights were not added to the side markers until sometime during the 1969 model year. My '69 produced in Dec., 1968, did not have them, but I have added them. The original legislation required lights or reflectors. The regulation was changed to include lights and reflectors. I believe the new requirement went into effect Jan. 1, 1970.
The lower trim level trucks did not have door switches for the dome light. I don't know if they were a standalone option, but I doubt it. |
