Re: 72 GMC Sierra K2500 - New Project
Here's another thing to add. There were never, ever, any big block production 4wd trucks in 67-72. With the SPID saying it's a 127" wheel base leads me to believe a short bed frame has been swapped in, or some one cut it down and did a really nice job if you can't see it easily. Also, IMO your rear axle is too far back to be a SWB from the pics you've shown. That flat bed sure looks like an 8 footer to me. It looks like it has had a shackle flip in the rear too. It still looks like a great truck though. And with a 396 already added in it too boot! It looks like you have a very nice truck IMO!

Re: 72 GMC Sierra K2500 - New Project
I'm not exactly sure where to find the frame VIN, but stamped on the frame under each door are the below numbers:
Under Driver Side Door: 3998723 262 5 26 34 Under Passenger Side Door: 3998724 262 6 9 34 Not sure why these numbers don't match, but I'm new to all of this. Thanks for everyone's help in trying to figure out exactly what this is. I think you are probably correct on the wheel base. I haven't pulled a tape, but am betting it is the 127" LWB. |

As mentioned in a previous post above, the frame # would be on top of the frame by the steering box. You may have to sand or wire brush the area a little bit. I like the truck and I wouldn't worry too much about it. I would just drive and enjoy it.... LockDoc

Re: 72 GMC Sierra K2500 - New Project
Being a GMC it may nt have a VIN stamped in the frame. The frame I bought for Blue is a GMC and has no VIN #

Re: 72 GMC Sierra K2500 - New Project
Anyone know how to find out more about what this engine originally came out of?
Codes on Block are: T10I3IV 18L120797 I scrubbed & cleaned for the frame VIN. There looks like there may have been something there (very tiny), but was not legible. I'm not sure if this was it or not. |

OP hasn't posted in almost 3 years. I wonder what ever happened?
