Master cylinder replace or paint?
So I'm dropping a new engine into this beast in a couple of weeks and will be working on cleaning up the wiring, AC and painting the compartment. I would like a shiny master cylinder too, but not sure if I should buy a new one, or if painting them is a decent idea. Appreciate the advice!
also, does anyone know where I can get a new Vehicle Emission Control Info sticker for the wheel well? |

Re: Master cylinder replace or paint?
Eastwood makes a paint for master cylinders that approximates the original finish, and it holds up well with little deterioration.

Re: Master cylinder replace or paint?
I've sprayed them with cast iron or rebuilder's gray paint. Look pretty new with a re-plated cap/cover.

Re: Master cylinder replace or paint?
Just remember that brake fluid is a dandy paint remover . . . .

Re: Master cylinder replace or paint?
I don't like rusty master cylinders either, but I gave up on painting them because any brake fluid you get on it takes the paint right off.

Re: Master cylinder replace or paint?
"Paint's" nice unless your master is sketchy anyway. This is mine with Eastwood's High Temperature Stainless Steel Coating. Works better on the master than exhaust manifolds.

Re: Master cylinder replace or paint?
Some of the rust restorer stuff turns the rusty outside to black. Since its not paint it hangs awhile - can't remember brand I used.
