1972 c30 Vortec Swap and more
Hello, guys, I'm looking to do a big project I have a 1972 c30 one ton I love my truck but I want to put in an engine and transmission from a 1997 chevy c2500.
But first a little story I got a 1995 k1500 dirt cheap but have found out there is a problem with the Title so I can't register it So plan b is to swap the body from my 97 c2500 to the k1500 so I can have four-wheel drive and take the drive train from my 97 and put it in my 1972. nice plan huh any input? |

The vortec 350 will be nice in the 72. Are you planning on using the trans and the TBI with it? Just know that the vortec doesn’t have the provision for a mechanical fuel pump, so you’ll need an electric pump to run it.

Actually, some of them do. Mine was drilled, but I had to change the cam to get a fuel pump lobe. If there's a block-off plate it means the block was drilled for a mechanical pump.

I will be using the Vortec spider injection I have the fuel pump figured out already.
The only big thing I can see is having a drive shaft made to fit the new tranny. I know the wiring will be a pain in the ass but I'm up for it. |
