It's alive!

My wife (Randysgal's) truck fired off today. It hasn't ran since the day I drove it home almost 4 years ago. The ZZ-3 with uncapped headers is loud as hell. Still a couple bugs to work out but the Painless Wiring kit did it's job, and I still have a ton of work until she's on the road. I need to get some undated pics for you guys too.

Congrats Randy (and Randy'sGal). Love that sound of uncorked headers. Gets the blood to pumpin. Guess I need to get back on mine so it's not 4 years between fireups.

I decided to go with a clean "no chrome" look. The intake is polished and Jet-Hot coated and the valve covers, air cleaner, and block will all be black.

Thats great news bud. You've been waiting as long as I have to fire that engine. I am hoping to get mine going this coming weekend. Just need to wire it up and install the gas tank and then we cross our fingers

That's great Randy! I would have like to have hung around and listen to it run. Thanks for the distributor, but you won't believe what the problem was, I ended up using the cap and rotor only as the cap I had was cracked real bad. I believe I hit it when I swapped the cabs. I'm going to put the distributor in anyway after I get a new cap and rotor. She'll light them tires up now.

Thanks guys No burnouts until I get the driveshaft shortened.
Don- I'll be around all day Sunday, I have beer.
Jim- never hurts to have a spare distributer laying around, glad you figured out the problem. You have to stop over and hear this monster run!
Tim, I wish you the best of luck dude, let us know how everything goes.

I'd like to make it over one day this week, but definetly this weekend. I'll give you a call. Yea I got my problem fixed but not before I made an ass out of myself. I swapped the #1 and #3 spark plug wires at the dizzy, you should have heard the damn thing backfiring, it also blew off 3 vac. plugs on the carb! Fixed it now.

3 vacuum plugs? You got me beat, I've blown off the PVC hose once or twice, but never 3 plugs.
Thanks Bill, I'll have to talk Cathy into making another road trip up there one day.
