Headliner Trim

I have a 67 C10, I see the headliner at various resellers all fit 67 -72 but the chrome trim only fits 69 -72, whats up with this? I thought the cabs where all the same. Has anyone used the trim for the 69 -72 in a 67 or 68, this is about the last peice I need for my interior except a descent looking Ashtray. Which I asked Javy if he could make a billet cover for it but didn't seem to interested. Tried a few years back on a chrome ashtray but was wrong setup and haven't been able to locate anything since.

The headliner only came in the CST/Cheyene trucks, and was not included untill 69 as indicated. The trim can not be easily installed in trucks that was not so equipped/ There are slots that it snaps into, and then holes for the very small screws.
The cabs are not all the same, and there are actually small differences in most years. little things that some ppl wouldn't catch.
If you decide to install this anyways, you can carefully cut the slotted pieces off, and then just use the screws to hold the trim up. (after glueing the headliner in) just be sure to use short screws. The previouse owner of my rig wasn't so bright, and poked a few up through the cab roof.

Thanks Longhorn, I haven't seen the inside trim or even a headliner in a truck around here. I'll have to see if I can find something to look at to see if I can adapt it without to much of an issue.

Good tip Longhorn. I'd like to install the headliner sometime in my '69.

Bowtie67 - I was just browsing through e-bay and I came across these chrome ashtrays. If you're interested...

I have gone with Javy's Billet Dash and Glove Box and a real nice finish up to the dash would be some type of cover to completely cover the door cover of the ashtray would be sweet, The ashtrays in these trucks when you look at pictures or in the trucks really look blank in that area. Thanks

Does the headliner need the trim around it to look good? Or if it was in good shape would it look fine without the trim?

I was thinking the same thing. I was going to try to glue or use industrial strength vlecro to attach a new prepro headliner to my cab roof and not even use the trim. I think it'd look alright since it'd somewhat match my '67 door panels.

I never got a pic of mine with no trim, (the GMC was a no-headliner truck, with a black one screwed in)
It looked fine. I would do it again on the longhorn (without the damn screws) but the donor cab is a headliner truck, so it has all the slots for the trim.
more money to spend on trim.

I don't have a pic of headliner w/o trim but here's mine with the trim. The headliner's original but the trim is repro. The cab already had the holes for the trim.

Nice, I haven't seen any with the headliner and without it it kind of makes the interior kinda bland.

believe it or not, it also gets rid of quite a bit of the echo in the cab too.
