Re: Cheap Bumpers @ Jegs
I've helped install a cheap chrome bumper before and it warped like a funhouse mirror when we cinched down the bolts. I don't know where it was from but I do know it made me afraid to buy ANY aftermarket bumpers. At least with Jegs you can return it if it's junk, but you'll likely have to pay for return shipping. Personally, I would like to find an o.e.m quality bumper in paintable steel for the rear of my fleetside, it's just that I'm afraid of ending up with a piece of imported crapola when I open the box.

Re: Cheap Bumpers @ Jegs
Probably never heard this before but you get what you pay for. It's always nice to look at what you buy before you buy. There isn't much that will replace an OEM part correctly

Re: Cheap Bumpers @ Jegs
No, but I think someone did in the 67-72 section of these forums.

Re: Cheap Bumpers @ Jegs
I bought the front one for my 66. Needed a bumper that wasnt mangled, and it seemed pretty nice. Decent paint job on it, and it bolted in with ease. Worked perfect for me, and hard to beat the price.

Re: Cheap Bumpers @ Jegs
I ordered a front for my 65. Arrives soon but I'll be out of town for a few days. Will report back.

Re: Cheap Bumpers @ Jegs
Just know they will probably be thinner then your stock one. Also when installing the bumper it probably won't sit flush on your frame and will probably have to use bumper shims so you don't dimple the bumper.

Re: Cheap Bumpers @ Jegs
Yeah, hopefully it will be nice enough. I've kept my eye on local area postings for bumpers for a few months and nothing worthwhile comes up. My original bumper is tearing from where a PO must have got it caught on something while backing up. Hard to argue with $72 shipped. Maybe I'll be able to repair my original and swap it back.

Re: Cheap Bumpers @ Jegs
I hate to say how many bumpers I have, ok 2 that are painted. I know one is stock steel. I never thought about selling them.

Re: Cheap Bumpers @ Jegs
Do not turn this into a Want to Buy or Want to Sell thread. Also remember, PM sales are not allowed on this forum. If anyone wants to sell, they need to be a subscribed member (i.e. paid) and post in the Classified area.
Thanks!

Re: Cheap Bumpers @ Jegs
I received mine but haven't installed it yet. It seems to be rigid enough, but I measured it with my cheapo digital caliper and it's about half as thick as my original bumper. I measured it at 0.09", compared to about 0.17" on the original.
Considering I don't intend to bump into things, I think this will be fine as long as I can avoid dimples from installing it.
