shorty header question
How difficult is it to change your oil with the shorty headers? I know the long tubes get in the way and you have to reach around them or go in from the passenger side to get to the oil filter. And on a lowered truck it is not too easy.

It won't make a lot of difference, the header is in the way on the long tubes but the front Y pipe or whatever you have there on the shorties will be in the way too. Oil filters with a hex key on the bottom are the easiest to remove in tight places. Also, never use those band type wrenches, get a proper 3 jaw wrench, they compress when you turn them and positivly grab the filter case. Minimizes the chance of tearing the case and having to remove the filter with special tools (or a chisel)

I have headman longs on my 78 and ramhorn's [same size as shorties] on my 79 and neither are any sort of a problem to change the filter on. Heck on the 79 you can get to the filter from any angle you want. No reason to worry.
