Cup holder console

Up for sale is a complete cup holder console. This console doesn't have any major damage but has a few imperfections which I'll try to detail the best I can in the thread. It is close to being paint ready with minimal prep as I had this console soda blasted inside and out. The soda blasting process removed the old paint without damaging the grain. I polished the original trim ring (missing one tab) and polished the stainless hinge (oiled too).
Comes with a GMC emblem, strain relief cable, new rubber bump stops, lid latch, polished stainless hardware and misc hardware.
The flaws are rubs from seat belts in the grain, a screw hole crack on one of the mounting screws (not all the way broken), a stress crack on the back corner (once again not broken all the way through the fiberglass) minor chips, scrapes and molding blemishes in the fiberglass itself. There are no extra holes in this console and the 4 mounting holes are good. The cup holder has an enlarged mounting hole with a crack to the corner.
$225 plus Shipping and 3% PayPal fees SOLD
Any questions respond in the thread
Thanks, Curt

Re: Cup holder console

I am curious..you used soda blasting to remove paint on your console. I have access to a sandblaster, is that a bad idea? I fear it might remove the grain in the fiberglass. A penny for your thoughts?

Thanks

Joe

Hey Joe, I can assume sand or glass bead blasting would remove the grain and etch the fiberglass. Soda is the only way to go unless you use lacquer thinner and have all day to strip it. I've tried that before and ended up with a headache, a mess and still a console that had paint to be removed. The lacquer strip probably would be OK if you weren't doing a color change and just needed a freshen up. I like doing all the repairs on clean bare fiber glass so I don't mess around anymore. If you do have soda blasting done take it to a media blaster that specializes in corvettes because they will have a soda set up for fiberglass and don't be shocked at the price. Typical console inside and out is $100-$120 around here. Hope this help Curt
