slop in steering
i cant pin point what is wrong with my steering. some say its possible rag joint others say it can be the steering box. here is a video any thoughts?

from what I can see from the video it looks like the steering box. The shaft turns but the pitman arm does not move.

Definitely the steering gear box. You can get a remanufactured one with a lifetime warranty pretty reasonable. Be sure to change the rag joint while you’re at it. I just finished this on my 66. Check prices at parts houses like Rock Auto or Advanced Auto. Advanced has a 25% off coupon deal....I used it for my Saginaw steering gear box. The restoration places charge too much.
Now on to the suspension for me... |

Power steering is great but there is an adjustment screw with a lock nut on top of your steering box if you loose in the lock nut and then tighten the screw while rocking your steering wheel back-and-forth until the play is gone then retighten your lock nut will solve your problem this is very common with older boxes

Had my steering box rebuilt for 200$ at a local gear shop. Was not sure if I could find a new exact replacement so I went rebuilt.
