Is it possable to just replace bed sides? It looks like that would require cutting + welding but I keep hearing people talk about just bed sides so it makes me think its more simple then that?

Unbolt them and bolt the new ones up -- Its really that "easy" Remember that bolts are usually a pain in the butt to get out...

I would change mine out, but they are incredibly expensive up here, $1200 cnd per 8' bedside

Mostly a bolt on but there are usualy a couple of spot welds you have to cut thru .

Go to Fenders Salvage in Clarkdale, AZ. I bought a great looking passenger bed side last weekend for about $60. Took the girlfriend and I about and hour to get it off. We had to rock the side back and forth to break the spot weld by the tailgate area.

I'm serious, It comes off so easilly, you'd think somethings wrong!

Another ?? about a step side. what is under the wood holding it all togeather? I was thinking of getting rid of the wood putting some dimond plate in there. will this work?

There are about 4 cross braces under a short stepside bed holding the bed together. I think it can be easily done ,just put some bleachers out in the sun, out on highway 61.
