Acquired my 72 C20 about 6 months ago. I have been lurking on this forum for some time and finally decided to join. I bought this truck after it had been sitting in a field for 15 years with hopes of getting her back on the road. The original owner swapped the original 402 for a 454 back in the 80's because he needed a little more torque to tow his desert race vehicles all across the southwest and into Mexico for the Baja 500. Long story short right after I bought the truck I found out the 454 had a flat cam so I decided to pull it and completely rebuild it, good thing because every rod and main bearing was on its last leg. This was my first major automotive project and I couldn't be any happier with the way it worked out. The truck is a blast to drive now and I am very appreciative of everything that I have learned along the way. It's still a long ways off from where I want it to be, but at least it's a driver now.

The truck still sports some of the stickers from the races that the original owner competed in. The stickers will stay for as long as I own the truck as I feel it is a part of the vehicles history.

Awesome truck, love the big tires on a 2wd, I had a few with the same look. Welcome to the crew

Thanks, they are 33x12.50r16 tires. I wish I could find another set of tires for these 16.5" rims but they are basically extinct. Its a shame because those western wheel co. turbines are basically useless.

I do like the turbines also. Have you looked into the STA Super Traxions? They have a 12.00x 16.5.

Wow! I thought I had exhausted every source searching for tires that would fit the turbines. I have a set of 16" aluminum American racing style wheels that I am planning on putting on the truck because tires are way cheaper and I will probably end up going through tires fast with a 454 lol.

Now that I know about those STA tires I will definitely hold on to the turbines for future use.
