67-72 rearend in an 81?

I've got a rearend with 3.73's and a posi in it off of a 71 Chevy, I believe, that I had bought for my 72 before I got rid of it. I still have that rearend and was wondering if I could swap the gears and posi out of it and into my 81's rearend. I know the whole thing wouldn't fit since 67-72's had coils in the rear. The build sheet says that I have the standard rearend, if that helps any.

its cheaper and better-

If you or a buddy knows how to set the pinion angle, and you have access to a welder, just weld the leaf spring perches ($20) on to the coil rear. There nearly the same width and you wouldn't have to shell out the $ to set the ring and pinion up.
