One ton frame

I have a 68 gmc stepside lwb one ton. Can I replace all the suspension parts with half ton parts to get a better ride ? Thanks

Yes with a front cross member swap, frame is probably taller. Rear springs also may be wider you might have to replace spring shackles. If you had a donor truck that woild help.
