72 GMC grill paint?
What kind of black paint have you guys used on your grills mine is almost gone and want it to look about the same as OEM Think por-15 is to shinny? Thanks.

I didn't see any black paint on my grill back in the 1990 date when I first got my truck. were they always painted with black on them?
When I repainted the grill I painted it the way I saw it on the truck.

The 71/72 grills have a black outline on bottem up middle along far too and right around the headlight buckets rest is chrome.

I can tell you the repro's are flat black. They also flake off. I am going to do my repro with flat black only carefully scuff the Crome this time.
I would say tape off the protected areas and scuff the rest so it does bite |

The factory paint was satin, not flat. Same as all trim like hubcaps, emblems, side trim, '69-'71 Chevy grilles. The two trucks in this thread show the correct sheen. Mine had held up for 17+ years and it's no garage queen. I gave it my own touch with doing the headlight doors.
